After-Meal Drinks for Holiday Digestion
Updated on December 15, 2022

It’s the time of year when many of the simple joys of life become the heart and center of this season – spending time with family and friends, the coziness of winter, warm fires, and lovingly prepared indulgent meals. With all of the holidays and festivities, it’s also a time that we turn to some of our best herbal allies, bitter and carminative herbs, to support and soothe digestion after meals.*

Common herbs like ginger, peppermint and dandelion have long been used to soothe gas and bloating, relieve occasional heartburn, and help us process our food overall – especially great benefits after decadent holiday meals!* Experience them for yourself in these three delicious herbal recipes that you can pair along with your holiday dinner or dessert. Which will be your favorite? A Lemon Ginger Toddy, the Minty White Chocolate Hot Cocoa or our Dandelion Irish Coffee?

Watch how to make them in the video below and check out the recipe cards for full instructions.

Lemon Ginger Toddy

A sweet and zesty herbal hot toddy made with our Organic Lemon Ginger tea to soothe and support digestion and add warmth to a chilly evening.*

Serving Size: 1
Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Warm the mug with hot water and let sit for 3-5 minutes, which primes the vessel to hold heat longer, yielding a truly hot toddy to the last sip. Empty once time is up.
  2. Add the tea bag, hot water, and honey to the cup, stirring to dissolve.
  3. Steep and cover for 10-15 minutes for a full extraction of herbal goodness from the tea bag.
  4. Add the optional liquor.
  5. Garnish with lemon peel and spices.

Minty White Chocolate Hot Cocoa

With melted white hot chocolate, creamy coconut milk and Organic Peppermint tea, this drink is just the thing to soothe your belly and alleviate digestive discomfort after an indulgent meal.* ⠀

Serving Size: 1
Total Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Brew tea according to directions in a mug with ½ cup boiling water. Squeeze out any excess tea and discard tea bag.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the brewed tea, coconut milk, and honey over medium heat just until milk begins to steam, 5 to 6 minutes.
  3. Add white chocolate and whisk until completely melted and combined.
  4. Add in a pinch of sea salt and optional spirulina powder, stir to combine.
  5. Pour into a mug, garnish with mint and serve hot.

Dandelion Irish Coffee

This drink is for those that like to indulge in an Irish coffee after a meal, as the bitterness of our Organic Roasted Dandelion Root tea meets you there for a caffeine-free alternative.*

Serving Size: 1
Total Time: 10 Minutes

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Brew tea according to directions on box in a fancy mug.
  2. Squeeze out any excess tea and discard tea bag.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract, maple syrup and optional whiskey.
  4. Top with whipped cream and optional shaved chocolate. Serve immediately.
