Peek Inside our Herbalist’s Formulations

In addition to adhering to our organic practices, we formulated these lozenges with taste and efficacy in mind.

Lemon Ginger Echinacea is formulated with herbs for a spicy zing and pectin for its soothing properties. Pectin is a naturally occurring substance found in berries, apples, and other fruit. You may be familiar with it for making jams or jellies. When heated together with a sweetener, it thickens – resulting in the texture we associate with jelly. In herbalism, this action is medicinal and known as a demulcent, which soothes, coats, and relieves irritation due to its mucilaginous texture. Pectin puts the “coat” in these Throat Coat Lozenges to relieve sore throats.

We incorporated menthol into the Eucalyptus Mint and Sweet Orange Fennel lozenges to soothe coughs and deliver throat soothing pain relief. Menthol is an ingredient derived from plants like peppermint and known as an oral anesthetic a.k.a. pain reliever to soothe occasional sore throats. It also works as a cough suppressant to quiet the occasional cough. In this cough drop, the organic menthol not only provides effective pain relief but its minty punch is like a breath of fresh air.

Whether you are on the go or taking care of yourself at home, these effective remedies are easy to use. Make sure to check out our whole family of Throat Coat teas and lozenges to help you weather any storm this winter.
