Green Tea Exploration

Green tea cartons on table

Green tea is one of the healthiest beverages in the world, consumed for thousands of years for its benefits. Not only is it mildly stimulating, but for individuals who are already healthy, it can be powerful in fighting free radicals, which is probably why green tea is popping up as an ingredient in almost everything these days from ice cream to skin care products. We currently feature it as the active ingredient in our line of six green tea-herbal blends.

You may not know this, but black, oolong and green teas are all different expressions of the Camellia sinensis plant. Oolong tea is partially fermented, black tea is fully fermented and green tea is unfermented and steamed. Collectively, these drinks are second only to water in popularity worldwide, and green is our favorite expression of this caffeinated plant, creating many different varieties of tea. Legend has it that Chinese Emperor Shennong discovered tea as a stimulating beverage 4,500 years ago, when leaves fell into water he was boiling. Shennong was said to have experimented with hundreds of different herbs in his day and was a pioneer in the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A true herbal explorer!

Building on the reputation of this ancient beverage, our herbalists paired some of our favorite herbs with green tea to impart even more benefits to your daily tea ritual. These teas are a great way to infuse more herbs into your everyday wellness regimen. Our blends are refreshing and mildly stimulating with low caffeine content—perfect as an afternoon pick-me-up, as well as for their medicinal properties.* Explore our different blends below to see which ones might be right for you. Please note that all of our green tea blends are mildly— but not wildly—caffeinated.

Green Tea Dandelion: Start your day off right with a gentle boost of energy from the green tea, while supporting your liver, healthy digestion and natural detoxification systems with the help of the humble dandelion.* Pleasantly roasted and bitter, with sweet, mildly tannic notes.

Green Tea Ginger: Spice up your daily tea ritual with the warming digestive benefits of ginger, a staple in Ayurvedic medicine.* With the mildly invigorating effect of green tea, this herbal combo is great before or after a meal. Wonderfully spicy with soft, earthy tannins.

Green Tea Hibiscus: This tart, tangy and mildly tannic blend makes for a sassy and beneficial summer cooler on ice! We also love it for a gentle afternoon pick-me-up plus the added bonus of hibiscus’ cardiovascular support.*

Green Tea Lemongrass: For those who want a healthy beverage, this light and bright blend combines the uplifting support of green tea with the subtle lemony taste of lemongrass. Mellow, gentle and rejuvenating for both body and taste buds!

Green Tea Matcha with Toasted Rice: Inspired by a traditional style of Japanese green tea called matcha iri genmaicha, we blended two types of green tea—crushed sencha and finely powdered matcha—with toasted rice to create a delightfully earthy, soft and aromatic experience that supports your health.*

Green Tea Peppermint: This minty and mildly tannic blend takes invigoration to the next level. Our green tea provides a gentle boost, and peppermint’s high essential oil content makes it great for supporting healthy digestion.* For maximum refreshment, we love to serve this one on ice!

We source some of our favorite tea leaves from the Himalayan foothills of Darjeeling, India, where this vibrant green shrub grows native and thrives in the higher altitudes. Our partner farmers employ such efficient organic practices that they are able to capture more carbon than emissions created from the tea’s harvest, processing and shipping. This allows us to buy 627 tons of certified carbon credits from them to help build better regenerative systems, from our farm to your family.
