Introducing Moringa with Spearmint & Sage

With a nickname like “Wonder Tree,” moringa may sound more like a superhero than a plant. That’s because for thousands of years, the moringa tree has been featured in Ayurveda, Unani and other herbal traditions; today, it serves as a superfood and is grown in many countries to supplement the diet. This unique formula combines time-honored moringa with sage and spearmint for a minty lift to contribute to a healthier you.*

Moringa oleifera is a tree native to the sub-Himalayan regions of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh, where Ayurvedic healers have prized it for over 3,000 years. Used throughout history to harness its strong, nutritive, and protective abilities, moringa’s herbal power can be gleaned from every part of the tree, from the seeds and leaves to the bark and flowers, when eaten.

Moringa thrives in hot, dry conditions and grows quickly—up to a foot per month—generally reaching a maximum height of about 40 feet. This rapid growth rate makes it a great plant for restoring land from deforestation. Better yet, its delicate, oval-shaped leaves fully develop toward the end of the dry season, making it a great nutritive source when food is scarce. In its native regions, people enjoy moringa as a vegetable in traditional dishes, steamed and prepared much like spinach. Even animals recognize its benefits and feed off its branches and roots. As a testament to its powerful constituents, some farmers use its dried, crushed seed pods as fertilizer, and others use its pulp to filter water.

For this tea, we source some of our favorite moringa from Sri Lanka, where small production, family cooperatives harvest the leaves sustainably throughout the year, then dry and cut them for our tea. Formulated by our herbalists with the additions of sage and spearmint, this sun-kissed, floral and gently minty tea contributes to a healthier you.*

If you aren’t yet familiar with moringa, we invite you to get to know it. This tea makes a great addition to your everyday wellness regime and a tasty refresher for the palate.
