Turmeric Tonic Mockarita

With December’s holiday celebrations behind us, it’s probably time to start taking things easy. But breaking habits like alcohol and sugar can be hard without some kind of reward, so we’ve switched out our cocktail hour with a botanical mocktail: a simple non-alcoholic margarita recipe using our new Turmeric with Meadowsweet & Ginger Tea. Because of the rhizome’s deep golden hue, this tonic glows, making this fun and healthy beverage even more enticing. With turmeric’s 3,000 year-old reputation for promoting healthy digestion and supporting a healthy response to inflammation associated with exercise,* you can finally toast to happy hour guilt-free!

Turmeric Tonic Mockarita

Switch out your cocktail with a botanical mocktail.

Servings: 4-5 cups

Time: 20 minutes

  • Cocktail or margarita glasses
  • Large measuring cup
  • Large bowl
  • Spoon or whisk for mixing
  • Tea kettle
  • Quart mason jar for steeping tea, with cover
  • Plate, for garnishing cups with salt

  1. Boil 4 cups water and brew four tea bags of turmeric tea in a mason jar, allowing it to steep covered for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Stir tea into bowl with lime juice, honey. Taste and add more if desired.
  3. Circle the rim of your cup with a freshly cut lime wedge, then dip in a plate of salt to garnish the glass.
  4. Once the mixture has cooled, pour it into your cocktail glasses over ice.

Add a slice of lime for an extra touch, and enjoy! And of course you can always add a shot of tequila for the real thing. (Your secret’s safe with us!)

We suggest sharing this tonic as an alternative to happy hour with friends after yoga, hiking, or another form of physical exercise. The tart and sweet flavors quench the thirst, and the turmeric rhizome helps to support your body’s response to inflammation post-exercise.* This tonic is such a treat, we doubt you’ll miss any sugary cocktails.
