Can I drink Smooth Move® cold as an ice tea?
Jul. 1, 2011
Believe it or not, this is actually a controversial question. The primary concern when using Smooth Move® tea is that it be prepared properly and that you take the recommended dose. It is also important that you not use the tea more frequently than recommended unless directed to do so by your healthcare practitioner. That said, there may be times when you are experiencing occasional constipation and it is simply too hot to drink hot tea or you simply prefer tea this way. At these times, it is okay to cool the tea down, either by adding ice or by refrigerating, so long as you have brewed it properly and you only drink the recommended amount.
Proper brewing requires that you pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag, covering the cup and steeping for 10-15 minutes. Once steeping time has been reached, gently squeeze the tea bag to make sure all the beneficial components of the tea make it into your cup. Identify the serving size appropriate for you—you can find this information on the package, or in the FAQ titled "What is the suggested serving of Smooth Move tea?"

My Smooth Move® tea looks oily. Why?
Jul. 1, 2011
If you’ve prepared your Smooth Move® tea according to the brewing instructions, you’ll likely notice droplets of oil or even a small “oil slick” on the top of your tea. What’s that about?
All of the herbs in our various Smooth Move teas contain essential oils, except for the roasted breadnut in Smooth Move Chocolate. These essential oils are an important component of the herb, contributing to its characteristic taste and smell, as well as some of its beneficial constituents.
Everyone’s heard the adage that oil and water don’t mix. It’s this oil-and-water relationship that causes the essential oils in the herbs to condense on the underside of your cup cover, and to appear on the top of your tea. The essential oil content of some of the herbs we use contributes to their digestive effects.* The pharmacopoeial standards specify essential oil content at levels that will provide the beneficial effects. So, seeing oil in your cup is a good indication that you are drinking a high quality tea.

My Smooth Move® tea seems to be “slimy.” Why?
Jul. 1, 2011
Never fear. That “slimy” texture is actually a good thing and it’s supposed to be there. Certain herbs in the formula, such as the senna, licorice and cinnamon bark, are known to be “mucilaginous.” Mucilaginous plants have a characteristic slippery or slimy feel to them. This characteristic is indicative of their quality. Notice the slippery texture when you squeeze the bag and rest assured that you’re getting the highest quality herbal laxative.
Not to be rude, but after drinking Smooth Move® tea, how long will it be before I poop?
Jun. 21, 2010
It usually takes between 6 to 12 hours for Smooth Move tea to induce a bowel movement (that’s the more polite way to say it), depending upon how fast your body works to naturally metabolize the active ingredients.
