10/01/2012
SEBASTOPOL, Calif. — Oct. 1, 2012 — To mark the beginning of Non-GMO month, Traditional Medicinals is celebrating the Non-GMO Project verification of its more than 50 teas. Already the country’s No. 1-selling wellness tea brand1, Traditional Medicinals now also earns the distinction of having more Non-GMO Project Verified products on the market than any other tea company.
“We are a company dedicated to sharing the natural wellness potential of plants from around the world,” said Blair Kellison, Chief Executive Officer of Traditional Medicinals. “Ingredient transparency and integrity are at the core of our values, and we know it’s what our consumers expect.”

Traditional Medicinals strives to sustainably source organic, Fair Trade Certified™ and pharmacopoeial quality herbs from their native regions around the world. The company is proud to add Non-GMO Project Verification to the list of qualities consumers can trust when purchasing its teas. The Non-GMO Project Verified logo will be featured on Traditional Medicinals’ striking packaging update, which features a new logo, beautiful herbal images and friendlier copy to demonstrate care, evoke trust and cue flavor.

Traditional Medicinals is the first herbal tea company to be Non-GMO Project Verified and is a proud supporter of the Non-GMO movement. Traditional Medicinals® Debuts Brand Evolution, Five New Herbal Teas

09/20/2012
SEBASTOPOL, Calif. — Sept. 20, 2012 — Traditional Medicinals, the country’s No. 1 selling wellness tea brand1, is strengthening its marketing efforts this fall with a new line of herbal teas and a striking packaging update, the brand’s first major refresh in more than a decade. The changes are part of a larger effort to better reflect the company’s passion for plants and engage more deeply with the growing number of people seeking herbal products for natural wellness.
Rising consumer interest in natural and herbal products has fueled recent growth of the herbal supplement market, which grew 4.5 percent in 2011 to an estimated $5.3 billion.2 Traditional Medicinals estimates this will carry over to wellness tea, and expects the category will double in size to $400 million in the next five years.

“Now is a great time for Traditional Medicinals, which has been a leader in wellness teas for nearly four decades, said Blair Kellison, chief executive officer of Traditional Medicinals. “However, research showed us that our packaging wasn’t always reflective of the true care and commitment we put into each tea. In fact, we were actually intimidating some people. As the leader of the wellness tea category, our aim is to open a welcoming door to the growing number of consumers seeking natural self-care options.”

Brand Evolution Invites Consumers In
Following an extensive research effort, which included interviews, surveys, shop-a-longs and focus groups with more than 3,000 herbal and wellness tea consumers, Traditional Medicinals will revitalize its branding this fall. The updated brand packaging features a new logo, beautiful herbal images and friendlier copy to demonstrate care, evoke trust and cue flavor. The more than 50 Traditional Medicinals teas are now grouped into nine descriptive segments showcasing the breadth of the line. The segments—detox, digestive, green, herbal, laxative, relaxation, seasonal, tonic and women’s—are meant to awaken curiosity and make it easier for consumers to identify products based on their needs.

New packaging has started to arrive on store shelves, with a full transition expected by early 2013. By year’s end, consumers and retailers can also expect to see a redesigned website, as well as an increased marketing investment in social media, digital advertising and public relations initiatives.

Packaging Revealed With New Herbal Teas
Joining Traditional Medicinals’ current tea line-up are five new herbal teas, now shipping to retailers with a SRP of $5.49 per 16-count box. The new blends are made with 100 percent certified organic ingredients and pharmacopoeial quality herbs sourced from their native regions around the world — a defining quality that sets Traditional Medicinals apart from other leading tea brands.

The new teas include:
  • Organic Lemon Balm: This gently relaxing tea helps relieve tension* with a pleasantly mild and slightly citrus taste.
  • Organic Fennel: Supporting healthy digestion,* the sweet and slightly bitter organic fennel tea is similar in taste and aroma to licorice.
  • Organic Linden Flower with Hawthorn and Lemon Balm: Linden flower combines nicely with hawthorn berries and lemon balm for a calming and relaxing effect.*
  • Organic Hibiscus: Hibiscus flowers are blended with a touch of blackberry leaf and lemongrass for a pleasantly tangy, refreshing tea.
  • Organic Burdock: Used to promote healthy kidneys and skin,* this tea has a slightly earthy, sweet and bitter taste
