Having the Right Bra for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

By lactation consultant Shari Criso, MSN, CNM, IBCLC
For Traditional Medicinals®

When you first realize that you are pregnant, nipple soreness and breast growth are some of the many changes that you will begin to notice. Some women find this perk (no pun intended!) one of the best parts of their new pregnancy body, while others are wondering are they ever going to stop growing?

Pregnancy and nursing are two of the most important times in a woman’s life to have a properly fitted bra. Most advice you read will encourage you to wait until the very end of pregnancy or even after delivery to get your nursing bras. This is unnecessary and usually too late. Trust me the last thing you will want to do the first week home with your newborn and your engorged leaking breasts is try on bras!

When choosing the right bra for you it’s important to remember that this is one thing not to skimp on! Either find a place that specializes in fitting bras for pregnancy and breastfeeding or contact me at www.birthboutique.com to schedule one of our virtual consultations.

There are many extremely supportive (and even sexy) bras on the market, and with the right fit you will never want to go back to your underwire bras again!
