Get the Most Out of Your Tea
There are several grades of herbs used for tea, including pharmacopoeial (far´mă-kō-pē´ăl) grade, food grade and inferior grades. We use pharmacopoeial grade herbs, (the highest quality herbs available in commerce) and are the only tea company in the USA to designate this quality standard for our herbs. These herbs may cost more, but we think you and your baby are worth it. Learn more about our use of pharmacopoeial grade herbs.
The Story of Mother’s Milk tea
In early 1974, three young friends started Traditional Medicinals® in the back store room of a small herb shop along the Russian River in Northern California. The company was founded with the intention of providing herbal teas for self care, while preserving the knowledge and herbal formulas of Traditional Herbal Medicine (THM)1.
Nine original formulas were created of which some are still our top selling teas today. This included teas like Smooth Move®, Throat Coat®, Breathe Easy®, Nighty Night®, Easy Now®, Pregnancy Tea®, Gypsy Cold Care®, Female Toner® and Male Toner®. Of the nine, it wasn’t surprising that it was the women’s formulas that really took off. It made us realize that we had some gaps in offering solutions for the many profound transformations a woman can experience. The following year, Mother’s Milk tea was created to offer an answer to post-partum needs and provide a formula that would promote healthy lactation and one that had been traditionally used to increase breast milk production. This was no easy task, as this was an extremely sensitive formula for a very special need and population that had to be created with much care and consideration.
After 31 years on the market – Mother’s Milk tea is even more popular today, and is one of our top selling teas just behind Throat Coat and Smooth Move. This formula is the number one selling nursing tea and is widely recommended by lactation consultants, midwives, doulas and childbirth educators all over the country2.
